The Banff Jasper Relay
Covering some 258K in total, sixty teams of 15 compete in what some describe as “the most beautiful relay in the world.” The 15 stage relay travels from Banff to Jasper utilizing the most beautiful highways in the world; scenic Highway 1A (Bow Valley Parkway) and Highway 93 (Icefields Parkway). Part of the Courir à Québec running series, le Défi des Escaliers de Quebec covers each and every step connecting the lower and upper towns of old Quebec City. Alternately climbing one staircase and descending the next, participants get to run about 30 staircases and a total of more than 3,000 steps. All races start and finish in the Parc du Bois de Coulonge. In addition to overall winners, there are awards for the best climbers and sprinters.
